Sheabutter
Shea butter is our passion - in all of it's varieties as well es in combination with other great natural ingredients as fats and oils.
The
two different types of natural shea butter are these:
- Vitellaria paradoxa subsp. paradoxa: it occurs from western tropical Africa to Ethiopia
- Vitellaria paradoxa subsp. nilotica: it occurs from Sudan to Uganda
As sheanuts are growing wild, being collected by the local people, we do not insist in for local farmers extremely expensive organic certification of the shea butter we buy, even we try to get it whenever it's possible.
Sheabutter processing
After being collected, the edible peel of the sheanuts will be removed, the nuts will be dried, sorted and dependent on the further process cracked and directly pressed, or roasted, boiled, refined etc.
Basically we distinguish between three different qualities:
- cold pressed
- traditionally produced (which includes roasting and boiling)
- refined
Cold Pressed:
The cold pressed quality is not always produced without any heating. However, our supplier of cold pressed Nilotica works with a KernKraft oil press, which actually remains only at room temperature. This process preserves the vast majority of the ingredients of shea butter and is a precious remedy for the care of your demanding skin.
Traditionally produced:
The majority of shea butter is produced in this way. This process still preserves very many ingredients of shea butter. Through the processing steps, this process gives the local population additional opportunities to earn a living. This shea butter is a wonderful remedy for the care of your demanding skin.
Refined:
After producing shea butter it is possible to refine it further. This process will cause a partly loss of the properties of shea butter, but will also remove the typical odor. This can be an advantage, especially with West African shea butter, as not everyone appreciates the typical inherent odor of this shea butter. Even some people might raise concerns due to the refining process, this shea butter is a great remedy to care for your demanding skin. Our founder, who is dealing with skin issues for more than 50 years, is gladly using this type frequently to keep his own skin well.

Shealade
Be Blessed Shealade - the pure, irresistible chocolaty scent of raw cacao butter combined with our wonderful shea butters. Aside of their great properties for skin care this combination is making the cocoa butter less hard and thus better to apply on the skin.
